Child Care Training Sessions
Exciting training sessions designed to professionally enhance those who work with our young children.  Training sessions are provided in a number of formats.  You can join us live in a classroom setting, by satellite, or in an instructor-led training.  Training sessions meet the needs of everyone in the child care setting. 


40-hour Director Training
This training provides instruction for directors of newly opening facilities.  Centers and communities will benefit by being led by a director who incorporates team building skills into a fiscally sound organization.  Participants will develop centers of excellence that improve children's cognitive, social, emotional, and creative processes.  (On-site, Blended, Distance Learning)
 
Administrative Overview - 18 Hours
This 3-day training refreshes the skills of the seasoned child care administrator and also prepares aspiring administrators with the skills required for managing a center of excellence.  Participants will receive instruction in the areas of Leadership, Ethics, Teamwork, Personnel Policies, Community Partnerships, Resources, Personnel Evaluations, Benefits and Insurance, and Budgeting.                     (On-site Only)



Art for Infants and Toddlers - 2 Hours

In this session participants will explain developmentally appropriate art materials and equipment; examine all safety aspects of art materials for use by children; and, list examples of art experiences that are varied mediums that are developmentally appropriate and open-ended.  (On-Site and Distance Learning)



Art in the Classroom (Preschool) - 2 Hours

Participants will identify appropriate creative materials for various age groups; identify products that may not be developmentally appropriate for specific age groups; and, develop lesson plans for children with special needs.  (On-Site and Distance Learning)



Baby-Proofing - 2 Hours

Participants will develop strategies on maintaining a safe environment for infants and toddlers in the licensed facility.  (On-Site and Distance Learning)



Behavior Management - 2 Hours

The training will offer opportunities for child care providers to care for children with behavior challenges without becoming frustrated and expelling young children.  Through this traing the participants will discuss how to provide an effective and efficient classroom environment for young children, uncover emotional causes and challenging behavior, and identify the most common difficult behaviors and strategies for overcoming these challenges. Blocks for Infants and Toddlers - 2 Hours

Enjoy this opportunity to teach mobile infants and toddlers how to enjoy and appropriately use blocks of all types.  Create developmentally appropriate lesson plans that will reduce injury and enhance learning.  (On-Site and Distance Learning)



Blocks in the Classroom - 2 Hours

Block play in the classroom is exciting work.  Participants will learn techniques valuable for the young child's future learning of mathematics, science and literacy.  (On-Site and Distance Learning)

 
Budgeting in the Family Day Care Home - 2 Hours

This training is designed to assist with assessing materials, equipment and supplies required for a quality program while remaining within a prescribed budget.  Techniques for developing a comprehensive annual and forecast budget are shared with participants.  (On-site Training Only)

 
Butterfly Cycles - 2 Hours
Through hands-on activities and thought-provoking discussions participants will identify the internal qualities they possess to serve as an asset in the early childhood field.  Participants will examine their personal purpose for work with young children and the positive effect they will have on the life and direction of the children they serve.  (On-site, Distance Learning and Webcast)

Child Abuse - 2 Hours

The primary goal of educators and child care providers is to enhance the learning of children and to remove barriers, academic or environmental, that make learning difficult.  Child abuse and neglect can have devastating effects on children's intellectual, physical, social, and psychological development.  Participants in this class will be trained to recognize and intervene when children are not able to fully benefit from their educational opportunities due to suspected child abuse.  Students will be protected by providers who recognize the signs and symptoms of child abuse and neglect.  (On-site and Webcast)
 
Classroom Management - Infants - 3 hours
Techniques and methods and presented in a step-by-step process to assist child caregivers in successfully maintaining a safe, reliable, and controlled classroom environment for infants.  Participants will know why classroom management is important to a child's educational experience.  A controlled, nurturing, and safe classroom environment helps to actively stimulate learning.  A classroom that is managed consistently provides an opportunity for children to have fun while they learn.  A controlled classroom also minimizes disruption to a child's learning process.  The focus of this training includes the developmental characteristics of infants, language skills, attachments, classroom design, and mock daily schedules.  (On-site and Distance Learning) 
 
Classroom Management - Preschool - 3 Hours
Participants will know why classroom management is important to a child's educational experience.  The focus of this training includes friendship, the teacher as an influencer, characteristics of preschool children, self-care skills, and conflict resolution skills.  (On-site, Distance Learning Trainings)

Classroom Management - Toddlers - 3 Hours
Participants will examine the global characteristics of the toddler.  Additional objectives of this training include managing challenging behaviors, providing a consistent and stable environment, providing a structured outside experience, and creating a positive classroom experience for toddlers.  (On-site and Distance Learning)



CN U LUV ME WHEN I HV ASTHMA - 2 Hours

Participants will become sensitive to the needs of parents with special needs.  The symptoms of an asthma attach and approaches for treatment, the development of an asthma action plan, and the creation of outside activities for asthmatic children will be discussed.  (On-site and Distance Learning)
 
CN U LUV ME WHEN IM DIFRNT - 3 Hours

The primary goal of educators is to enhance the learning of children and to remove barriers, academic or environmental, that make learning difficult.  Participants will develop effective techniques and skills that will construct an adaptable classroom environment for all children.  Research skills and proper observation and documentation skills will be developed which will result in a developmentally appropriate atmosphere that is loving and accepting.  This training will offer opportunities for child care providers to understand two of the most common special challenges faced by young children - ADHD and Autism. Communicating with Children - 2 Hours
This training provides a hands-on approach which will empower participants to effectively communicate with children, describe questions, answers, and utterance codes.  Participants will also be instructed on how to engage young children through difficult topics and discussions. Communicating with Families - 2 Hours

Participants will explore effective communication techniques and strategies for communicating with families served by licensed centers. (On-site and Distance Learning)



Communicating with Infants and Toddlers - 2 Hours

Techniques and methods are presented to assist early childhood providers in teaching communication skills to infants and toddlers.  (On-Site and Distance Learning)

Co-Worker Communication

Participants explore communication styles, personality types and the communication process.  Methods and exercises are presented to assist child caregivers in successfully communicating with co-workers, employees, and supervisors in the licensed child care center.  Participants will also develop strategies to counteract barriers to effective workplace communication.  (On-site Training Only)


Confronting SIDS! - 2 Hours

Providers of our most vulnerable children will be instructed on how to provide a safe environment which will reduce the number of cases of SIDS.  Participants will obtain technical as well as practical information to ensure that the mandated components of the Back-to-Sleep campaign are implemented in the infant classroom.  Providers will be given factual information designed to eliminate excuses provided by parents for not putting infants Back-to-Sleep. Developing Lesson Plans - Part I - 2 Hours

The primary goal of educators is to enhance the learning of children and to remove barriers, academic or environmental, that make learning difficult.  Participants will develop effective lesson planning skills that improve children's cognitive, social, emotional, and creative processes.  Effective lesson planning skills maximizes the quality of services provided for the well-being of children enrolled in the child care facility.  The focus of this training includes the discovery of multiple intelligence, the usefulness of lesson plans, basic components of lesson plans, and the development of a mock lesson plan. Developing Lesson Plans - Part II - 2 Hours

The primary goal of educators is to enhance the learning of children and to remove barriers, academic or environmental, that make learning difficult.  Participants will develop effective lesson planning skills that improve children's cognitive, social, emotional, and creative processes.  Effective lesson planning skills maximizes the quality of services provided for the well-being of children enrolled in the child care center.  The focus of this training includes the use of educational terms, Bloom's Taxonomy, the history of lesson plans, and the development of a mock lesson plan.  (On-site and Distance Learning)



Effective Communication in the Family Day Care Home

Participants explore basic communication styles, how people react to styles of communication and define elements of positive communication.  Through small group discussion, learning activities, and practical exercises, participants will identify their communication style and find out why "how" something is said is just as important as "what" was actually said. Participants will also develop strategies to counteract barriers to effective communication.  Participants explore communication styles, personality types and the communication process. Failure to Thrive - 2 Hours

Participants will develop strategies to observe the health and well-being of children in their care.  An excellent training for infant and toddler teachers.  (On-Site and Distance Learning)



Fine Motor Skills ( Preschoolers) - 2 Hours

Through this training, participants will identify a variety of developmentally appropriate materials for preschoolers and activities that enable preschool children to develop their small (fine motor) muscles.  (On-Site and Distance Learning)

Fine Motor Skills for Infants and Toddlers - 2 Hours

Through this training, participants will identify a variety of activities that enable infants and toddlers to develop their small (fine motor) muscles while discovering their individual expression and creativity.  (On-Site and Distance Learning)



Food Service and Nutrition - 4 Hours                                                                                                           Good health and safety practices are important in all early care and educational settings.  This includes family child care homes and center-based programs such as early child care, preschool, and before- and after-school programs.  This training provides those primarily responsible for food preparation training in food nutrition, planning, preparation, serving, proper dish washing and food storage. FunTimes and Field Trips - 3 Hours

Enjoy designing special activities and field trips for your children while reviewing safety rules for your program.  (On-Site and Distance Learning)



Health 2 U: Infectious Disease and Infection Control - 2 Hours

Infection and disease control practices and techniques are presented to assist child caregivers in successfully maintaining a healthy environment for children.  Through classroom discussion and exercises, participants will be able to apply health practices for disease control, illness detection, cleanliness, and basic hygiene in the licensed child care setting.  (On-Site and Distance Learning)

Health 2 U: Promoting Safe Child Care - 2 Hours
Health and safety practices and standards are presented to assist child caregivers in successfully maintaining a healthy environment for children.  Through classroom discussion and exercises, participants will be able to apply child care safety regulations and practices.  (On-site and Distance Learning)



How My Brain Works - 2 Hours

In this training you will describe the cognitive ability of infants and toddlers; gain an awareness of current findings in brain research and best practices for infants and toddlers; identify targeted areas of brain development; and, respond immediately to the needs of infants and toddlers who are distressed.  (On-Site and Distance Learning)


I am a Rose: A Journey in Self-Esteem - 2 Hours
Participants will identify several positive and professional attributes to affirm the strengths, achievements, and effectiveness of a quality child care provider.  Through small group discussion and practical exercises, participants will explore the role of a quality child care provider and the contribution a provider makes in the lives of children who are under their care.  (On-site and Distance Learning)



Immunizations = Healthy Children - 2 hours 

Participants will develop strategies to assist parents in maintaining the well-being of their child(ren) through obtaining timely and appropriate immunizations.  (On-Site and Distance Learning)

It Has A Name - 2 Hours

Empowering children through the enhancement of their verbal communication skills promotes independence and increases self-esteem.  Building vocabulary also strengthens a child's pre-reading foundation. (On-site, Webcast, Distance Learning)



Keep Me Busy - 2 Hours

Participants will identify strategies for avoiding problems; discuss behavioral expectations of children in group settings; and, list ways that allow children to experience both logical and natural consequences for their behaviors so that they can learn how to take responsibility for their actions.  (On-Site and Distance Learning)



Keeping Infants and Toddlers Busy - 2 Hours

In this training you will identify strategies for avoiding problems; discuss behavioral expectations of children in group settings; and, identify rhymes, poems, songs, and finger plays that help infants and toddlers develop emergent literacy skills, such as phonological awareness.  (On-Site and Distance Learning)



Large Motor Activities for Infants and Toddlers - 2 hours 

Discover the importance of teaching young children how to master and use all parts of their body.  Through your participation in this training session, you will describe developmentally appropriate materials and activities that encourage gross motor development.  (On-Site and Distance Learning)

Large Motor Games (Preschoolers) - 2 Hours  

Participants in this training will create an enjoyable classroom atmosphere where children are able to individually express their creativity through use of their gross motor skills.  You will also be able to incorporate dramatic play experiences with the use of props for children to experience.  (On-Site and Distance Learning)



Large Motor Skills for Infants and Toddlers - 2 Hours

Materials and Equipment - 2 Hours

Mommy Milk:  The Joy of Breastfeeding - 2 Hours

This training will assist centers and team members to design a supportive environment for parents and team members who choose to breastfeed their infants on-site.  (On-Site and Distance Learning)


Multicultural Holidays and Activities - 2 Hours

Discover ways to welcome children and families from other cultures into your program.  Holiday activities will be explored and lesson plans developed will be enjoyed by all participants. (On-site and Distance Learning)


Multiculturalism in the Classroom - 2 Hours

Enjoy these hands-on activities while learning essential terms that lead providers to appreciate the differences in the families served in the early childhood program. (On-site and Distance Learning)



Music for Children (Preschool) - 2 Hours

Participants will explore songs which are popular with children of various ages; explain developmentally appropriate music experiences and equipment; describe how children develop music appreciation skills; design positive techniques to be used with children; and, and identify facts for instrument families.  (On-Site and Distance Learning)



Music for Infants and Toddlers - 2 Hours

Participants will prepare developmentally appropriate songs for infants and toddlers; describe how infants and toddlers develop music appreciation skills; design positive techniques to be used with infants and toddlers; and, learn facts about families of instruments.  (On-Site and Distance Learning)


Parents in the Classroom - 2 Hours

The Writing Center - 2 Hours

Transformational Leadership - 2 Hours

Participants will examine their leadership abilities as an Early Childhood Providers.  The 4 Components of Transformational Leadership will be explored - Inspirational Motivation, Idealized Influence, Individualized Consideration, and Intellectual Stimulation.  Core Values will also be assessed. Transportation Safety - 2 Hours
